Today, Ms. Erica McRae visited our Mass Media and Society class to inform us about the impact that networking can have on our futures. She told us about her previous enrollment in Mr. Chambers class and how his connections with very prestigous people can be just as beneficial for us as it was for her. Last semester, while in Chamber's class she was introduced to one of Chamber's associates and now she has an intership with her. Not only that but, she also has an entertainment group called "Triple Crown Entertainment." Seeing how far she has gotten in just a semester's time only inspires me to exceed the expectations placed on me being a Visual Communications major. As McRae said "You don't have to focus on just one subject" and thats exactly what I've been doing, for me it just been Visual Communications, don't get me wrong I love VC and my department but I think it time for me to explore my options.

The Presidental Inauguration

Yesterday, I witnessed HISTORY take place right in front of my eyes as I watched President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden being sworn into office. This historical event was one that many thought would never happen. Indeed it did, and to be apart of it only makes the experience more mind-blogging. Despite, a temperature of 34 degrees and millions of people pushing and shoving to get the gates. Just to know that I was there in the midst of it all on January 20, 2009 when the Barack Obama was named the 44th President of the United States of America is more than enough for me. Then to hear such a confident man speak of bringing change to a world that knows nothing of such, only inspires me to prosper and set forth bigger and better goals in life.

Reflections
"Plan your work and work your plan." This quote from Byron Pitts TABJ Banquet speech has proved to be one that fulfills the most unthinkable possibilities. Not only, now in the midst of the celebration of Barack Obama being elected 44th President of the United States of America. But the road that was traveled to get to this historical event. Forty-plus years ago, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr fought to bring justice and equality to a world of disbelievers. He had a plan, better yet a dream. A dream he believed could change the world if excuted properly. His plan was to form a group of dedicated members of the SCLC to fight injustice nonviolently through marches, speeches, and other acts during the Civil Rights
Movement. These acts simply changed America forever today, there aren't any segregated schools, water fountains,or bathrooms. With to this change a slender man with an odd name stepped forth with a plan to make Dr. King's dream a reality and with a few years of successful planning we will witness the dream become a reality TOMORROW! When Barack Obama is sworn in as president and if it hadn't been for Dr. King's dream and Obama's plan for change we wouldn't be watching history take form.

Why Am I Here?
Well, I've been exposed to media since a young age, so I am familiar with the effect that media has on the public. My father introduced me to the world of radio broadcasting around the age of five and I've been intrigued by the process ever since. However, radio broadcasting is his "thing" whereas Visual Communications is mine.
